Although I never acknowledged my weight to be a hindrance in my life, there were things that I had to admit that I wouldn’t try because I was 330 pounds. I did not have the courage to reach out for the things life had to offer me. After losing 150 pounds, I have made it a point to try and conquer all those little things I wouldn’t try because of my weight. I have more energy to do the things that I love the most.

I am one of a growing number who has taken their life back from morbid obesity. I am a 38 year old Latina female who began this journey on October 3, 2004. At the time I weighed in at 289 pounds. Two years later I am a much healthier 161 pounds! Thank you to Dr. Marvin and his staff for their incredible care and guidance. I have always been overweight. I tried many different diets and weight loss trends, but they never seemed to work. If I did end up losing any weight, I only seemed to gain it back plus a few pounds more. I started looking into weight loss surgery in March 2006. I was borderline morbidly obese. I contacted Obesity Surgical Specialist in April 06. After the first seminar I was sold on the procedure. I am only 4 1/2 months out, and I've already lost 64 lbs!

I have been an overweight person as long as I can remember. I never ate more than the other kids but I gained more and more weight each year. By the time I was 18 I weighed 350 pounds. By 21 I weighed 395 pounds. A month after my surgery I lost 45 pounds. After three months I lost 95 pounds and had never felt better. I learned more about eating foods in small portions, maintained a healthy diet and exercised. So far I have lost 150 pounds, 12 inches from my waist and gone down 3 shirt sizes!

I am 38 years old, I am 5' 1" and had gastric bypass surgery on May 18, 2006. I weighed 224 pounds when I started and so far have lost a total of 69 pounds. With surgery and a good exercise program I am a healthier, happier, new me. Good nutrition, exercise and surgery all go hand in hand. The support group meetings are wonderful, they have taught me new recipes and new exercise techniques to use to maximize my goals with my weight loss.
